INDEPAINTED II

Featuring
Veronika Dirnhofer, Christian Eisenberger, Andrea Fian, Klaus Wanker, Wolfgang Wirth

The exhibition ”Indepainted II” by artepari is once more offering original insights into contemporary young Austrian painting, which – having long overcome struggles between abstraction and representation, modernism and conceptualism – is presenting itself versatile and free from dogmas. Out of its art historical tradition it has, however, retained the belief in two important cornerstones: first, each artist has to develop their own position and claim it for him or herself. Thus, a broad range of individual positions has emerged and is being developed simultaneously and autonomously beyond particular schools, movements or cities. Second, a painting is never simply a painting but always represents the idea of a painting, too. Frank Stella once pointed out the two main problems in painting: to find out what painting is, and to find out how to do painting. The exhibition “Indepainted II” will provide exclusive insight into how this is currently being done in Austria.
