Under the title „indepainted“, the gallery artepari presents new works from the artists Veronika Dirnhofer, Franz Gruber, Ronald Kodritsch, Michaela Söll and Bruno Wildbach in Graz, from April 10th to May 20th 2010.
INDEPAINTED
The painting which is regularly being called dead, turns out to be a notorious Lazarus of the younger art generation (Toni Stooss). Each generation leads new possibilities and limits of the medium and inspects its basic requirements concerning the practicability for the problems of the present.
Under the exhibition title indepainted, the artepari gallery gathers five independent positions of young contemporary painting from Austria. Veronika Dirnhofer, Franz Gruber, Ronald Kodritsch, Michaela Söll and Bruno Wildbach seem to be unencumbered of the historic burden or, at least, unimpressed by it and they retain painting as contemporary and adequate medium of expression of their artistic producing.
The neologism of "independent painted" doesn’t only serve as a title of the exhibition but also as a trademark of the presented works. Independent of social impacts or commercial considerations, the five "libertines" pursue insistently and consequently their desire for art. Demand and attitude not to subordinate to the fashionable spirit of the time also are to be found at the artepari gallery, whose duty it is to offer such artists a platform who don’t answer to the calculus of the art market.
All five exhibitory painters have developed their artistic strategies after the "Ende der großen Erzählungen" (End of the big narrations by Jean-François Lyotard) and they act freely and light-heartedly of categories of style and of the ideological propositions "abstraction" and "figuration". They contrast the big systems of interpretation with a multitude of subjective narrations, private codes and individual mythologies.
