New edition
Wolfgang Becksteiner exclusively produced an edition for the gallery artepari.
This time, Wolfgang Becksteiner doesn’t warn of the content as he did in the year 2005. But he still holds on to his consequently continued concept of the transformation or rather transfer of information in his newest works. He packs concrete replicas of chops in plastic, just as offered for sale in supermarkets. The label gives information about producer, content, place and year of production, manufacturing method and price just as if they were from Austrian grocery producers; basic data which stands for evidence of quality and confidence between the producer, the trader and the customer. The often used phrase of the “art as an edible” is a metaphor of existential necessity into the linguistic picture and experiences therefore a quality whose metabolic nutritional value would probably reach zero in the case of a virulent crisis.
The plastic picture of the edible which became an artwork through transmission is (to be on the safe side?) on the same label:
In times of crisis everything gets harder is he resume of Becksteiner – and because it’s an artwork, there’s no expiration date. Vita brevis ars longa.
